Sit With It A Healing Community Dinner
March 22nd was the 4 year anniversary of my dad’s disappearance. Since that day, there have been so many moments when I’ve isolated myself and gone quiet. Being around people who have experienced loss has helped me in more ways than I can explain. That’s exactly how this gathering came to life, because there's no way to get through this alone.
We partnered with F.A.C.E. (Fearless, Artistic, Charisma, and Elegance) to host Sit With It, a dinner and candid conversation around healing, hosted by D Smoke of Paramount +'s 'Mayor of Kingstown,' at Two Hommés in Inglewood. He lost his mother in 2024 and has openly talked about his experience during recent interviews.
Community leaders across government, entertainment, and grief support came together to laugh, share, reflect, and be honest about loss. It wasn’t heavy. It was community. More than anything, we laughed, and people walked away with new connections.
So many people avoid talking about grief like it’s contagious. Whether we talk about it or not, grief is already here. It’s something so many of us are carrying. Facing it in community just makes it a little easier.
